MS Fram

Named after, and in honour of, one the greatest wooden ships to ever sail the waves and one of the most famous expedition vessels ever built, Hurtigruten’s MS Fram has a lot to live up to. The original Fram was a polar expedition ship that allowed the great explorers Fridtjof Nansen and Roald Amundsen to venture into Antarctica and the Arctic Circle.

Taking its lead from this iconic vessel, MS Fram was built in 2007 with the goal of taking inquisitive travellers closer to unique wildlife, landscapes and communities than ever before. Designed specifically to cope easily with the extreme conditions found in the polar waters that she crosses, this ship can take up to 276 guests into the icy wilderness. With the highest safety standards in place and excellence manoeuvrability in tight spaces, Fram will not only take you to the edges of the Earth in style but leave you captivated long after you have returned to normality by the wonders you will witness.

The ship covers regions at both the south and north extremities of the world, allowing you to take more than just a tentative step into unknown territories. With a wealth of knowledge on board in the form of specialist leaders that work in specific fields, you will be able to attend regular lectures on the places you visit and glean anything you wish to know from this helpful expedition team. And with itineraries that focus on different aspects, such as wildlife spotting, trekking, meeting vibrant yet unexposed communities and even camping in the wilds, you can tailor your expedition to your own personal interests.
