In 1990 one man had a dream and a desire to form a travel company that really cared about its travellers and the destinations they travelled to; a company that made the world smaller and more accessible to those who have a thirst for adventure. Fast forward to the present day and that man, Bruce Poon Tip, has created G Adventures; a travel provider that offers you the chance to get out there and experience some of the world’s most fascinating environments for yourself.
There is a massive focus on sustainability and helping the communities that people get the chance to visit, so as to provide an experience that not only inspires awe within those on their travels but also aims to educate them and invigorate the places they visit.
G Adventures do not solely aim to give you the experience of a life time but to help change your life for the better in one way or another. Their experienced and knowledgeable team guides travellers on their journey and leads by example in 'doing the right thing all the time, every time.'
There are a number of reasons why people continue to choose a travel experience from G Adventures, and they are all aimed at making everything simple and straight forward for those embarking on an expedition. From lifetime guarantees on all deposits, meaning that if you are forced to delay your trip you can rearrange it for a later date without losing the deposit, to the fact that all expeditions are one hundred per cent ensured to go ahead once you have booked your place on them; everything is aimed at making things easy.
The Expedition, their small cruise ship, takes limited groups of passengers on journeys into the unexplored parts of the world that only a few ever get to see. Whether you are keen to get up close and personal with the wildlife residents of the Polar Regions or hike, kayak and float your way around various inspiring landscapes; G Adventures can take you there and bring you back a changed person.
G Adventures are not just concerned about taking travellers to some of the most uncharted territories on the planet; they are also keen to create unforgettable experiences that will have you returning home a different person to that which you were when you left. If you have an uncontrollable desire to seek out adventure whenever possible and to know that you are also helping communities and the environment along the way, then a G Adventures expedition has your name all over it. Leap aboard one of their expedition vessel and join a small group on a big journey.
Although specific accommodation obviously varies from ship to ship, the general theme is that there are limited cabins on board to create maximum space. There are a variety of different room grades to choose from, depending on how many people are in your party and your own personal comfort preferences. All rooms do however have ocean views via either a port hole or window.
En-suite facilities come as standard and there are various other complimentary additions that add that personal touch whilst you are on board. Embarking on a trip to the Polar Regions will also mean that you receive free Welly boots and destination guides.
Internet access can be rather sporadic in these hard to reach parts of the world, but there is the option to hire out an IPad or desktop computer if you just can’t wait to share your experiences with those back home.
You will not be left hungry when travelling to either the north or south poles, as international cuisine will be on offer in a fine dining environment. Meals are taken all in one sitting and so there is no need to worry about booking a certain time to enjoy your dinner; everyone dines together.
Aside from the restaurant, Expedition also has a very comfortable Polar Bear Pub in which you can relax and enjoy a few drinks with your new found friends. Perhaps the best part though, is the fact that and all meals on these trips are included in the price you pay before you set off.
The facilities on all of G Adventures’ trips are focussed on creating an environment that is both comfortable and spacious. Large, open plan decks allow you to always see where you are headed and where you have been, whilst additional facilities help you pass the time that is not being used to explore your exciting surroundings.
Expedition provides its passengers with facilities such as a gym, sauna, library, observation deck and gift shop, so there is always something for you to get up to. There is also an excellent heated mudroom which you can use to get changed into your polar-proof clothing before heading out to explore the various terrains that you encounter. Finally there is the very spacious Discovery Lounge and a special area for BBQs when the weather permits, rounding off a ship that seems to have every inch of your expedition covered.
The main destinations that G Adventures sail to are those at both extremities of the Earth. Included in the journeys to the Arctic and Antarctic are trips to Iceland, Greenland, Spitsbergen, Lofoten, South Georgia, The Falklands, The Antarctic Peninsula, The South Shetland Islands, Uruguay and the southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia, Argentina.
All of these places boast stunning scenery, limitless picture opportunities and wonderful wildlife that just has to be seen to be understood and that will stir something deep inside the adventurer within you.
