Africa is the home of the safari. And so you’re sure to have many opportunities to admire some of the most majestic wildlife on planet earth as part of our African expeditions. Whilst lions, rhinos and elephants may be at the top of your list to track down, it’s not all about the big five. Powerful gorillas roam the forests of Rwanda and lemurs leap from tree to tree through the canopies of Madagascar. Even penguins can be found waddling along the white-sand beaches of South Africa.
The highlights don’t stop at the animal kingdom either. Some of the world’s most jaw-dropping natural sights can be found in Africa. Victoria Falls lies on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, the dramatic peak of Kilimanjaro looms over the plains of Tanzania and the fabled Nile stretches half the length of the entire continent.
Further north, the lush grasslands are replaced by dry deserts where nomadic tribes make their homes amongst the dunes. The culture here is different too, as countries like Morocco and Egypt proudly display Middle Eastern influences – not to mention the fascinating ancient history found in the latter.
